To my fellow New Yorkers..
I am starting to deeply consider “DJ-ing” a metal night like once, maybe twice, a week at a bar or something. One, I just want an excuse to go out and do something and two, have that thing be really awesome. Most of the “metal bars” around here have gotten pretty boring and filled to the brim with hipsters. Don’t get me wrong, they are still fun and all with the right crowd and I ultimately end up at one of them when it comes down to it. But come on, when your playlist doesn’t extend past the latest Slayer album and the same two or three Megadeth songs (I’m looking at you, Duff’s) which is all good and well, it just gets redundant and predictable. I want to be able to showcase some of them more overlooked/underground bands, take some requests, mix up the sub-genres; things people could possibly really get into with a little exposure. Hell, I could even help promote some local bands as well.
I don’t know, it’s just an idea… Probably more like a pipe dream, but I thought I’d throw it out there on the off chance that someone might be interested or at the very least have any feedback.
